OUR MISSION AND VISION

At Ann Thomas Center we believe we're a leading resource in behavioral health treatment in Madison, Alabama. To assist ministry leaders, pastors, veterans, and their families through holistic counseling.

What is Biblical Counseling?

Biblical counseling is the word of God at work in the lives of those who believe in Jesus Christ. In the basic sense, it acknowledges that a person’s faith plays a vital role in the healing of emotional or behavioral problems. Jesus Christ and the Bible are models for our counseling practice, and we seek to enter a spirit-led process of change and growth with you.

Therefore, this type of counseling intentionally seeks to make faith a significant part of the treatment process. In whatever problem you’re facing, biblical counseling acknowledges that Jesus Christ can powerfully work in your life to bring about healing and relief. We recognize the importance of maintaining your self-health in all aspects – that is your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The Issue with Secular Mental Health Treatments

For many years, psychological researchers and behavioral scientists have come to understand that emotional problems, like depression and anxiety are caused by multiple factors, including the biological, psychological, and social functioning of the individual. From years of research, they have developed best practices that outline a holistic approach for dealing with these issues.

Most recently, psychological treatments also have acknowledged that spirituality should also be a main focus of the healing process. However, in secular mental health settings, faith often can be ignored or marginalized because clinicians sometimes are uncomfortable with the concept of faith. Even worse, some organizations or individuals seek to integrate a generic “spirituality” that directly contradicts a Christian’s faith and the teachings of their church.

Our Difference Defined

We believe, we're characterized by comprehension of the parts of something is intimately interconnected and explicable only reference to the whole. Our center provides competent biblical counseling and resources for those who are struggling with behavioral health issues. Our aim is to bring awareness to behavioral health issues. We incorporate biblically grounded practices into all counseling and interventions that are consistent with the teachings of the church.

We work collaboratively as a team to fulfill one mission, one vision and one purpose (MVP) characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than the physical symptoms of disease.

Our counseling is comprehensive, since we seek a holistic approach that addresses the “treatment” areas that other secular counseling or behavioral health organizations provide. However, our counselors will consistently integrate the vital aspect of your faith.

Therefore, this type of counseling intentionally seeks to make faith a significant part of the treatment process. In whatever problem you’re facing, biblical counseling acknowledges that Jesus Christ can powerfully work in your life to bring about healing and relief.
